Private home interior design in Mumbai

Discreet, architect-led interiors for clients who value privacy.

A small number of HBS Architecture's Mumbai commissions are for clients whose work places them in the public eye — actors, founders, sportspeople, and families who simply prefer a private way of living. The studio's approach is the same as for any other home: an architect leads the project, every drawing is bespoke, and confidentiality is absolute.

Confidentiality is the brief

Our private clients trust us with their homes precisely because we do not market them. We publish only what the client signs off on, photo shoots are by exception, and the studio is comfortable being entirely absent from the public record of a project where that is what the client wants.

What an HBS Mumbai interior looks like

Calm rooms, generous proportions, and a material palette that ages with the family. Joinery is in-house designed and detailed; lighting is laid out at the plan stage; art and furniture are curated, not purchased in bulk. The result is a home that feels personally authored, not stylised.

How an introduction usually happens

Most of our private commissions begin through introduction. A short, confidential conversation is the first step — we listen far more than we present. If the studio is the right fit, a formal proposal follows.

(Frequently asked)

Questions, considered.

Will our home appear on the HBS website?

Only with your explicit, written consent. Many of our private homes are not published in any form.

Do you sign confidentiality agreements?

Yes. Mutual NDAs are standard from the first meeting onwards for every private commission.

Can you work to a fixed budget?

We can. The brief is agreed early, the design is shaped to it, and we are transparent through the process about where compromises sit.
